The BCP X-SERIES INTAKE. When we began development on our VB500 Turbocharger, we recognized that we would need an intake to flow enough air to really unleash the potential of the turbo. It was then that we realized we could make an intake that would improve airflow on BOTH the stock turbo and VB500. We can now offer the BCP X-Series Intake. The highest-flowing and largest intake available for the 2022+ WRX!*
The key points of the X Series intake are how it reduces inlet restriction and allows the turbocharger to have the MOST airflow possible to produce the best power possible. NOTE: THIS INTAKE SYSTEM INCLUDES A TURBO INLET AS WELL, the only intake on the market that does and is reflected in the pricing.
What is inlet restriction? Inlet restriction occurs when the turbocharger is sucking in enough air that the intake system becomes a restriction. This is easily measured by putting a pressure sensor at the inlet of the turbo. Restriction is typically caused by 4 elements on these cars: The Air filter, the MAF housing, the tubing bends, and the turbo inlet.
Why is inlet restriction bad? When there is pressure below atmosphere in the inlet, the turbocharger has to work harder to ingest and compress air. This reduces turbo efficiency, and therefore reduces power potential. Inlet restriction is the equivalent of running the car at higher altitude (which causes a loss in power).
How does the X Series Intake Fix this issue better than any other intake? We engineered the X Series intake to use unmatched size and design elements to improve velocity at all 4 areas of concern: The Air filter, the MAF housing, the tubing bends, and the turbo inlet. In our testing, we saw a difference of .71psi difference in inlet vacuum with the X Intake vs a popular 3″ competitor. That is the equivalent of going 1,600+ FT into the mountains in terms of air density!
Our testing vs the stock intake were even more remarkable. Almost a 2 PSI difference in inlet pressure! That is the equivalent of almost 4,000 FT of elevation simulated at the compressor inlet of your turbo!
